OSNepalNews, Kathmandu, 3rd Dec: 305 Games. 143 Goals. 101 Assists. He will go down as one of the all time great Bayern Munich players but Arjen Robben has called time on his career at the Bundesliga side after 10 successful years.
In that time, the Dutch international won seven Bundesliga titles, five DFL-Supercups, four DFB-Pokal winners medals, one Champions League winners medals and one UEFA Super Cup, while establishing himself as one of the deadliest wingers in world football.
He spent time at Chelsea, PSV and Real Madrid, but his time at the Bundesliga champions will be regarded as his best spell in club football. “I can say that this is my last year and it is good like that,” said Robben. “The club moves on and I may move on. It is the end of a very good and long period. I won’t stop completely yet.” Robben will forever be remembered for his trademark cut-inside.
Plenty of footballers have a trademark skill move. Cristiano Ronaldo uses the ‘Ronaldo Chop’ trick on the odd occasion and former Brazilian ‘wonderkid’ Kerlon made a name for himself by flicking the ball in the air and balancing the ball on his head like a Seal.
But nobody, and I mean nobody, comes close to using a skill move more than Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben. The 34-year-old pulls out the simple but effective ‘cut inside’ on an almost weekly basis – the guy even uses it when there’s an open goal right in front of him.
